What's Your Best Leadership Advice?

Match your values with those of your organization, says Wegner Award winner Daniel F. Egan.

The National Credit Union Foundation will honor Daniel F. Egan with a 2016 Herb Wegner Memorial Award.

Egan, now retired, served as president/CEO of the Massachusetts Credit Union League, New Hampshire Credit Union League, and the Credit Union Association of Rhode Island (now known as the Cooperative Credit Union Association).

The Foundation will honor Egan for his career of political, educational, and community engagement that has enriched the lives of millions of Americans. To learn more about Egan, Credit Union Magazine asked him to share his best leadership advice.

Egan says:

"Leadership is based on a value system that respects the contributions of individuals, supports and promotes cooperation, and enables a clearly focused vision for the future. The ability to provide effective leadership is enhanced when one's personal value system reflects the value structure of the organization."

Since 1989, the Foundation has presented the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards, often referred to as the "Academy Awards" of the credit union movement. The awards are named in honor of late CUNA CEO Herb Wegner, whose dedication and innovative ideas truly revolutionized how credit unions serve their communities.
