What's Your Best Leadership Advice?

Rely on each other, says Wegner Award winner William J. Bynum.

The National Credit Union Foundation is honoring William J. Bynum with a 2016 Herb Wegner Memorial Award.

The Foundation recognizes Bynum, CEO of Hope Credit Union, Jackson, Miss., for his efforts providing vital financial services to underprivileged and underserved populations, and for his advocacy for the credit union movement.

Credit Union Magazine asked Bynum to share his best leadership advice.

He says:

"None of us exists alone. We really rely on each other to be successful. Recognize that we can do more together than as individuals. Nowhere is that more evident than in credit unions, whether it's members pooling resources to help their neighbors, or the amazing people that volunteer as directors to be stewards of the resources, or my colleagues at Hope Credit Union and the many partners we work with to leverage our resources."

Since 1989, the Foundation has presented the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards, often referred to as the "Academy Awards" of the credit union movement. The awards are named in honor of the late CUNA CEO Herb Wegner, whose dedication and innovative ideas truly revolutionized how credit unions serve their communities.
