QUICK TAKE: Credit Unions Attracting More High-Value Members

These members will increase lending volumes in the coming years.

After reaching a low point in 2012, credit unions' decades-long trend of declining rates of peak borrowers (members ages 25 to 44) and future borrowers (members ages 18 to 24) continues to turn.

Credit unions attracted 5 million more of these high-value members from 2012 through November 2015.

This membership shift—along with the improving U.S. economic outlook—stands to increase lending volume in the coming years.
