QUICK TAKE: Labor market improves

Expect the unemployment rate to continue to decline.

A lower unemployment rate and higher incomes will put downward pressures on some fee income sources (e.g. late fees and nonsufficient funds fees). Tight labor markets will mean marginally higher operating expenses as wage and benefit costs rise. Turnover increases will be more obvious, Perc Pineda, CUNA's senior economist, says in the 2016-2017 CUNA Environmental Scan Report.
