QUICK TAKE: Compensation trend

More CUs are using salary ranges to set employee pay.

About 45% of credit unions with assets of $1 million or more have formal salary ranges—established minimums, midpoints, and maximums—for their various positions, according to CUNA's upcoming 2016-2017 Staff Salary Report.

That's up from 34% in 2014.

The percentage of credit unions with established salary ranges generally increases as asset size increases, from less than 10% among those with assets of under $5 million, to 90% or more among credit unions with assets of $500 million or more.
